It's New Years Eve...

Hey everyone. I have not updated this in a while. I figured it was time. Christmas was amazing, got to see my family, some of which I have not seen in quite a while. I managed to buy all the presents for under 60 dollars! That was good because of my rough financial situation. (lousy paycheck and ticket fine from october occuring at the same time) I'm very satisfied with the gifts I received. I got a new bike! Needed one of those. Others included gift cards, clothes, some books, all great things. Also, its been great spending time with my buddies who are all home for Christmas break.

So its New Years Eve again. I'm looking forward to spend the entirety of the night with
some of my closest friends. I'm not gonna say 2007 was a good year. Actually, it wasn't a bad year either. Like any time, it had its ups and downs, and somehow I managed to come through each one unscathed. I'll tell you one of the best things of the year was meeting my niece Aimee for the first time when she was born, and subsequently watching her grow.

***EDIT*** I can't believe I didnt put this in here when I wrote this. Definitely the 2nd best thing this year was my trip to Europe!!!!! I spent a lot of time in England and France, something I thought I wouldn't be able to do at least until I was my parent's age or around. I saw lots of beautiful places such as castles, towns, and the Eiffel Tower to name one! So yea, that was a HUGE thing for me. Why in the world did I not think of it the first time I wrote this blog?? Silly me. ***END EDIT***

Also awesome was becoming better friends with Doug, Tim, and Josh. I know I've mentioned that in another blog, but it was definitely one of the highlights.
Oh, and if you're reading that and thinking, how come he doesn't mention me? Trust me, if you're my good friend, I think about you all the time, and I greatly value our friendship.

School was definitely better for me this last semester than the previous two. Better grades, got to hang out with one of my best friend, Scot, and I got a whole lot closer to Justin, another good friend. etc. Just in general, I enjoyed going to school. Sort of a new feeling, hah.

All things considered I believe (and obviously hope) 2008 will be a fantastic year for me. I will be attending Fresno State in the fall, sharing an apartment with Scot and possibly Kevin. Definitely some changes. For instance, my brother Josh is moving out to an apartment in a couple of days, because he's getting married on Feb 23. So the first half of the year it will be me and my parents in a house that will no doubt seem a lot bigger.

What would a blog about New Years Eve blog be without some discussion of resolutions for the new year? I actually have some serious ones this year! In reality, there just things I should have always been doing but this year and the years I have not done so well.

Heres to...

...excercising. (Now that I have a bike I actually plan on doing this daily if I can)

...giving up soda (I already started this with Justin and Scot and now Doug a month ago, slated to stop March first, but I'm going to see if I can go longer!!!)

...considering myself better than no one...

...living not for myself but for God.

..learning to choose Joy over Happiness, that I may have Joy in God and what He has done and promised me, rather than basing my mood on the circumstances of the day, hour, or even minute.

I hope that 2008 is blessed year for all of you. May your damaged relationships be repaired, may your hopes and dreams come true, and may you never take anything for granted.

I now leave with you some words that seem relevant, at least to me. Heres 'New Years Eve' by Five Iron Frenzy:

"It's New Years Eve and I'm full of empty promises,
I half pretend to keep this time, just like last year. The band is loud and I'm wandering the shadows, wishing I was never here. I persevere. A crowded room, these whitewashed tombs, they raise their glasses high, they kiss the past goodbye.

This New Years Eve, I'm waiting for tomorrow.
My heart is on my sleeve, and yes I still believe, this New Years Eve, will turn out better than before, I'm holding on, still holding out, until they close the door... on me.

It's New Years Eve and I feel my insecurities,
are haunting me like ghosts, this sinking quicksand. And then with thunderous praise and lofty adoration, a second passes by, yet nothing changes. I hate my skin, this grave I'm standing in. Another change of years, and I wish I wasn't here. A year goes by and I'm staring at my watch again, and I dig deep this time, for something greater than I've ever been, life to ancient wineskins. And I was blind but now I see.

This New Years Eve, something must change me inside, I'm crooked and misguided, and tired of being tired. This New Years Eve, I'm waiting for tomorrow. My heart is on my sleeve, and yes I still believe, in You."

Long Time No Blog!

I figured it was due time to post. I'ts been a while.

Lets see...Thanksgiving Vacation was fun and...interesting in some aspects. Ask me how it was interesting if you're wondering.
All the family came over, Aaron and Eryn, Brandon and Amanda with Aimee, Grandpa and Grandma D, Josh, Breeann. It was great seeing all of them. Aimee is getting so big! She's about 6 months old now. She can clap now, its amusing.

Here's a pic of her in mid-clap:

Josh had his 23rd birthday on Tuesday (the 27th). I went to Hot Topic on Black Friday with Kevin and got him a shirt. Actually this shirt:

Thats Christopher Walken as The Continental, a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live. Good buy i thought. There was special going on, so I was able to get a T-shirt of my own, I got a Darkwing Duck T-Shirt. Pretty Rad.

Lately I've been spending a great deal of time with Doug, Tim, and Josh Thomason. (And Brad too!)
I mean, Ive been friends with these guys for quite some time, except Brad, but its only these last couple months we really started to all hang out toegether. These guys are great, I can talk to them about anything... and they keep me in line, especially Doug and Tim. So thats one blessing God has given me recently.

Yesterday I was at school, and mind you, I was really excited about the next night (tonight now) because I'm going to see Motion City Soundtrack, Mae, and Anberlin in San Francisco. Justin was telling me how he's eeing Relient K and Switchfoot with Julia and Jamie that night (last night) and he offers me a free ticket! Apparently the ticket he bought for a friend from work, and the friend canceled! Obviously I said yes.

So yea, last night I went to San Jose with Justin, Julia and Jamie to see Ruth, Relient K, and Switchfoot. It was amazing, great, and wonderful. (Thought I'd throw in another series of 3)

It was the 6th or 7th time I've seen Relient K. They played 'In Love with the 80s', but for the intro to it they played 'Head Over Heels' by Tears for Fears, and that cover was amazing. They also played a song off their Christmas album, it was Sleigh Ride. For this they brought out blow up lawn decoration snowman, penguin, polar bear, and a Christmas tree. They even had snow machines up top on the lights that made it snow during the song. It was scrumptralescent to say the least. One of the best parts of their set was when the played the Office theme song! They had a Jim look-alike come out on stage, dressed like him, and he played this instrument, I forget what it was called but it looked like a piano/flute hybrid. Matt thiessen sang a couple of lines about scranton, Micheal, Dwight, Jim and Pam...then they broke out into the full fledged song. Here's a video of them doing the office tribute at another show. The sound quality isnt all that great for this video, but here it is:

Towards the end of their set they played Sadie Hawkins Dance. Before they started that song though, they brought out 4 kids from the crowd, one kid who could play guitar, and the others to sing along with them on the last part of 'Sadie Hawkins Dance'. Another good show by the RK.

It was the first time I saw Switchfoot, and I was impressed. They put on one heck of a show. I mean, I've heard their popular songs, and liked them, but I never had or listened to any of the whole CDs. Now I will.

For me, probably the best part of the night was towards the end of Switchfoot's set, whn they played a song they made along with Ruth and Relient K called 'Rebuild'. It was the theme song to to the tour, which a percentage of proceeds go to Habitat For Humanity. The bands also volunteered along the tour to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. Pretty cool. Anyway, for this song, 'Rebuild' , Ruth and Relient K joined Switchfoot on stage to perform the song. I don't think I've ever seen a better performance of any song by any band on stage in all the concerts I've been to. Which is a lot. Anyway, you can download the 'Rebuild' song by going to this page on Switchfoots website.

I'll be putting up pictures (and a little video) of the show on my myspace shortly, just waiting for Julia to upload them first. We were pretty close, say 6 or 7 feet from the stage, so we were able to get some good shots. Oh, we met this guy Ken while waiting in line and he hung out with him during the first half of the show. He's from Australia, and around my age, on his way to Canada, and wanted to stop in California so he could catch some bands he likes in concert. He ended up being a really cool guy, and get this, Hes going to the San Fran show tonight, the same one I'm going to! I hope I see him there again.

So yea, thats whats been happening with my life; I'll update you guys on how the MCS-Mae-Anberling show went tonight in a day or two.

Hollywood Writers Strike.

Freakin a man. What at first made me midly annoyed is kinda pissing me off now.

Ok first things first. I believe writers should get a bigger cut of the profits from shows and movies and what not. Especially movies. but since the studio execs arent bugding, no deal was made, the studios are all freaking out. I mean, can't they find decent temporary writers that would be overjoyed to write for these popular shows?

In my earlier blog, I mentioned how NBC canceled the spin-off of Heroes, which was Heroes: Origins, a highly promising spinoff. But now that the strike is pretty much official, theres worse news!!!! Instead of the normal season run, theyre making the season finale for December!!!! Thats half a season theyre throwing away. thats potentially 4 months of shows that are thrown away.

You don't like Heroes you say? Well you better believe other shows are gonna be affected in similar ways. Were talking The Office, 30 Rock, etc. I'm hoping SNL will be spared from harm, but im not sure... Be prepared for a buttload of Reality shows next season, as you don't exactly need writers for those.

Hopefully, a deal is reached somehow during this strike, or else I will be watching significantly less amounts of T.V.

Which I guess could be a good thing for my health, bad thing for my enjoyment.

*******************UPDATE

So I did a little more searching and found out the writers are actually on strike to get a bigger cut of the profits made from DVDs, and also the potential profit the internet brings in. Hmm. interesting.

Also. looks like the office might be in trouble. sadface to the max. :(
look at this link- Closing the office?

Madness? THIS IS MY BLOG SPOT!!!!!!

Yay. November is here!!!!

Halloween was fun last night. Worked 11 to 5, then our neighbor Josephine took me and Josh out to In N Out and ice cream from Mickey D's. Its kinda like when we were little. We appreciate it though.
After that I went to Andrew's and Bridget joined us. We just hung out, went to Sicily's, and watched T.V. at his house. At around 8 45 ish I went and met my brothers at Aaron and Eryns house in Modesto. We were all there for about half an hour, Brandon had brought Aimee with him. We left Aarons a short while after. Brandon with Aimee, Josh and Breeann, and I decided to drive over to our grandparents house for a bit and visit. FINALLY before I went back to Modesto I stopped by Scots for a little while.

So busy but simple halloween.

I came across this preview for Sweeney Todd.
This is movie looks great! Its adapted from a stage musical, Ill be seeing it.

In other news, NBC has canceled the upcoming spinoff of Heroes. Its not official yet, but its a pretty sure thing. Heroes: Origins was supposed to air during the break in the regular Heroes season. However, with the upcoming writers strike happening in Hollywood, NBC pulled the plug!!! I'm pretty ticked about this.

My parents come home saturday!!!! I'm looking forwards to nice home cooked meal. and to see them of course. haha. Thats all for now. peace out homies.

My niece is cuter than yours.

Heres a short clip of my brother Brandon making my niece Aimee (his daughter) laugh. Ive never seen her laugh before this video, so it was pretty cool to see this.

I'm only a man....

Hey you guys. Its been an extremely long time since my last post. I apologize.

Whats been happening in my life? Ah not toooo much. I'm single again. yeaaaah.

Oh! Last week I got into a minor accident. turning left out of a parking lot, the two lanes closest to me were nice and were waiting for me to go. so i proceed to turn left around the cars in the lanes waiting for me to finish my turn. I was attempting to go in the middle lane so I could merge over and be on my happy way. but as i round the car, going normal turn speed mind you, a car comes driving in the center lane. She was going to make a left at the traffic light intersection. Which is like a million miles away! so we hit low impact, basically we scraped bumpers pretty good. no one was hurt. The lady
stopped in the lane and i pulled into the empty lot across the street. she calls 911 and before I know it theres 3 cops, community service officers rather, and a fire engine responding to the scene. The lady is fine by the way. but yea, I'm taking care of that situation with Geico, its under control. still, its not something I really needed.

In spite of these events, I'm happy. for the time being.

If you like Emery and havent got their new CD "I'm Only A Man" yet, what are you wating for? what, did you hear it sucked? Why dont you listen for yourself. prepare for a somewhat different take though. I went into listening to it with an open mind, and I love it. It definitely grows on you.

I'm excited for this saturday cuz I'm going to Fresno to hang with my buddies, Kevin, Matthew, Vincent, and Kristin. Were gonna watch movies and eat food. sorta of like pre-halloween get together. Its cool cuz I'll get to finally stop by and see the girls apartment too, maybe see Lisa and Marri there! I'll be staying in matt and vince's dorm. Good times.

one more thing, if you're reading this and you're my friend, even if you used to be, lets hang out if possible. There are lots of people who I may have lost touch with. and I wouldnt know where to start! so message me or whatever and we will get together. ya ya ya.

Even if it Kills Me...

...I'll post a blog.

Its been a while since I've posted a blog. about 4 days to be exact. I had an interview with Raley's today. They said I was a great fit for them, but theyre looking for someone who has more availability. Meaning someone who can work mornings, which I cant. The manager said if they have anything open I'll be one of the first they call.

The upside of today was when I went to pick up my paycheck from Big Boy. I got a raise! Yay! well, only a 25 cent raise, but now I'm making 8 dollars instead of the 7.75. Its a start eh? My check was pretty decent too. So I actually have money in my bank now.

And when the money I made from selling my textbooks, like 300 dollars worth, is transferable (im a new seller so i have to wait before the money goes from amazon's payment account) Ill be well off!

I bought Motion City Soundtrack's new CD, Even If It Kills Me. Its great I already love it.
You should buy it:

so...

I miss everyone... A majority of you guys (my friends) are away, and it sucks!

No offense to my homies holding it down still in Teca Town.

I wish I saw Tina more often... :(

PIGDOG EPISODE 4!!!

So the series is done. Here is the conclusion to Pigdog All-Stars.

let us know what you think.

PIGDOG EPISODE 3!!!!

Here it is in two parts:
Episode 3- Part 1

Part 2-

tell me what you think.

TGIF

hello all.

Soooo last friday, which was the end of the first week of school, I had my applied comp graphics class. blegh!!! I got there and it wasnt what I hoped it would be. It was all about presentation, and not as much about the graphic itself. Plus she said we needed either to have Adobe Illustrator experience, or sign up for that class which was later on fridays. Being that I couldn't do that, and I had no experience with Illustrator, I decided to drop the class.

That left me with under 12 units, which is bad. I need to have at least 12 units a semester to stay on the Insurance. I talked to scot, and looked it up on mjc's website, and signed up for Contemporary Film, a class Scot's in that meets friday mornings. At Brenden Theatres!!!! Basically this class involves seeing a new movie currently in theatres every friday morning, then discussing it with the class, with a review/essay due the next friday. This is like a dream class!

Today was my first time there, and we watched 3:10 to Yuma. Its really good, I recommend seeing it, especially if you like the old westerns or are interested in the Ol' West. Russel Crowe and Christian Bale are excellent in it.

Russel Crowe is the "bad guy" if you were wondering:
But yea, so I think my Fridays will be infinitely better. Before it was just work every friday. Now its movie and work! yay!
I'm going to see Tina tomorrow in Sacramento, so if you need me, thats where I'll be.
UNTIL NEXT TIME, BLOGWORLD!
P.S. I believe Pigdog will be releasing Episode 3 tonight, probably while I'm at work. I will post it when I get home.

School, etc

So the end of the first week of school is upon me. I have one class tomorrow, Applied Computer Graphics. I hope its as fun as the Intro to Comp Graphics class I took the first semester I was at MJC.
Hey its like 2 hours on Fridays, I figured it cant hurt.

Heres the lowdown on my other classes.

On Mondays and Wednesdays I only have my morning math class, Applied College Algebra. I like the teacher, He seems to be a pretty nice guy and good at what he does. The class description pretty much says "For students who need a transferable one semester math course that is not pre-calculus, etc" So hopefully I do well in this math class!

Tuesdays and Thursdays are probably gonna be my favorites, not because of the classes. I have Human Lifespan (a type of Psych class). It seems to be okay so far, the Teacher can be amusing. Thats from 930 to 1050. Then from 1230 to 150 I have my speech class. The one class I've been putting off my whole time at MJC. I think I'll do okay though.

That reminds me, you know what sucks? A coworker of mine, Trisha, has a different speech class in the same room right before mine, so I see her when she leaves. Anyway, she was telling me that her teacher decided they weren't gonna do speeches. They're just gonna analyze other speeches and see if they're good arguments and what not. THATS NOT FAIR!!!! :( Figures that its too late to change. hah.

But yea, the thing that makes Tuesdays and Thursdays my favorite: During the long break between my two classes I get to hang out with Scot and Justin!!! Today we went to Sonic for lunch. Its cool because this is the first semester where I just don't sit by myself talking to no one during breaks between classes...haha kinda pathetic eh?

This is a very promising semester...

Oh and I love these guys, they're so bizarre:

Endless Summer?

???

Not quite. Maybe weatherwise, but other than that, No.

Yes It's that time again. School starts tomorrow. Yay, I'm SO excited to have loads of homework and tests to do. I've been waiting ever since last semester ended!!!
Sh'yea.
A lot of the friends I hung out with all summer are either already back in school, or going to be very soon.

In fact, these faces in gray are the ones that left or are leaving soon:

That leaves Doug, Tim, Travis, Andrew, Josh, Scot and Nathan. Which is totally cool, I love all those guys and theyre my good friends. but sheesh! heh.

At least I'll get to see Tina throught the semester, as shell likely be able to come home about once a month, and I'll be able to drive up to sac probably once a month or more often.

So, my friends that left, I hope this semester is a blast for all of you whether youre going back to school or starting somewhere new. Cheers.

Stephen the Warrior.

So the other day I was at blockbuster with Matthew and Vincent looking for a movie to bring to Stephens house. We were scanning the shelves and found this movie called Nomad. I took a cellphone pic of it

The quality isnt very good on that, but upon looking at that we all instantly thought, hey that looks like Stephen! If Stephen was in the movie 300.

That's Stephen for you guys that don't know him.

If you were wondering, we didn't rent that movie. We rented The Ex, starring Zach Braff. Which was a little dissapointing. Some funny parts though.

Annnnyway. Expect something a tiny bit more substantial out of me tomorrow night. Well, actually tonight cuz its already Sunday.

Blog on fools.

Vive Le France (French Photoblog #1)

(blog orginally dated August 13, 2007)

So I finally got my pics of when I was in France with my dad, cuz we got his laptop fixed. So i decided to make a quick photoblog before work! It most likely won't be as good as the four England photoblogs, but I'll do my best. Here it is:

FRANCE

We took the subways to get pretty much everywhere.

This is the street our hotel was on. There were like 3 cr
êperies all near eachother. The French sure love their crêpes.

What trip to France would be complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower?

Waiting in line to take the elevator up the tower.

Looking up the elevator shaft. I thought this looked pretty cool.

View from the top

Spying on French people is always fun.

That's a French sun...

OoOo Nightfall!

So there were statues, monuments and fountains all over Paris in streets, parks, etc. Heres some of them.

This Turtle ate some bad turtle food.

We also saw Notre Dame!!!

I didnt find the hunchback tho. :(

Detail of one of Notre Dame's walls.

More sculptures from a Notre Dame wall.....somethings not right in this one..

They actually had a service going on while hundreds of tourists walk around the inside of Notre Dame. (sorry, all the inside pics came out blurry like this)

Heres some random pics:

Who can tell me what movie this is? (this isnt hard at all)

French breakdancers!!!! Someone should tell them its not the '80s anymore.

Davey Jones in France? but I thought he was Dutch?

Street shot, Thats the Arc de Triomphe in the background. Its blurry, but I still like this.

Thats all of France I have to offer as of now. I still got a buttload of pictures, so I'll make another blog or two probably later this week. :)

England Photoblog #4

(Blog orginally dated June 10, 2007)

Well this weekend my dad didn't have to work the whole weekend, so we took advantage of that. Saturday we went and saw another abbey, Fountains Abbey, in the morning. After that, we went Knaresborough for the annual parade and "Bed Races." Those were very amusing. (Basically, a "bed race" is just a flat surface with wheels, one person sits on it, and theres bars for about 4 people to pull and push the cart.) Today we got up and early and did a 3 hour drive to Scotland. We went to the city of Edinburgh, mainly to see the castle. Alright enough chit chat, heres the pics. Prepare yourselves, this may be a long one.

Saturday

We got to Fountains Abbey before it opened, so we walked to a nearby deer park to pass the time. After some short walking along the path we found the deer:

The females wouldn't let us anywhere near them.

But the males let us get pretty darn close. I'm thinking they could feel the strong bond of being male. Either that or they were thinking of how to kill us.

Fountains Abbey

We found this medieval grave/coffin. I found that it was just my size!

They got mad and put in me a holding jail...ok not really.

One of my favorites.

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race (and parade)

The beginning of the parade.

Heres a couple of the "beds" that I enjoyed.

Pirate themed. How original.

Scooby Doo. Getting closer. :)

GHOSTBUSTERS! We have a winner! (Bonus for the U.S. Flag)

Toward the end of the race, every team had to cross a river. Pretty intense if you ask me.

"Beds" in action.

Sunday

Edinburgh, Scotland

Some shots around town:

This bird has no respect. NO RESPECT!

So yea, I found William Wallace. He's actually a pretty nice guy.

I found a scottish king, He was kinda like those robot guys in San Fran. I put money in his basket and He knighted me! So its now, Sir Jeremy Bowers, thank you very much.

Welcome to Edinburgh Castle. Once home to Mary, Queen of Scots.

Unfortunately, I have terrible aim.

Weapons Room

Dampsel in Distress.

Dad enjoying the castle

Thats all folks! Now I probably won't have another blog for a long time, cuz I don't really have anything planned until Friday. One of the days my dad has a different shift we might go see another little town, but other than that, We leave for France this Friday. So, the next blog might not be until I come back!!! We'll see though.
